Practical Notes for the Christmas Day Meet-Up
This is not a professional service, organised tour or company-led initiative. It is simply a friendly, opt-in social meet-up being prompted by a member of the public.
Your number will be added to a WhatsApp community, where it will be visible if you choose to post in the chat. Joining and participating is entirely at your own discretion. All relevant event information will be shared through this channel.
Inappropriate or offensive behaviour in the WhatsApp group will prompt removal.
Inappropriate or offensive behaviour during the meet-up is strongly discouraged, and any threatening or potentially criminal behaviour will be reported immediately.
Strangers are almost always lovely, and we can’t wait to meet you — but please use your instincts when sharing personal information.
People may bring snacks or treats. This is a lovely gesture, but please only participate if you feel safe doing so. If you have allergies that could put you at risk, especially severe ones, it may be safest not to take part. As this is a public-led event in a public space, we cannot control exposure to allergens. Please also avoid bringing items containing nuts as a courtesy to others.
It’s December in London — it could be very chilly. Dress appropriately.
Transport options in London are limited on Christmas Day. Please plan your route in advance.
If you are cycling to the meeting point, please wear a helmet and any other safety gear you need.
This is not a religious or political event. All are welcome, and we encourage everyone to make an effort with each other in this spirit.
No health or care services can be provided at this event. If you or someone you notice requires assistance, please contact the appropriate services on 101/999. For mental health support, you can text SHOUT at 85258, or contact Samaritans.
General respect standards apply: kindness, respect for personal space, no arriving intoxicated, and no behaviour that could be discriminatory or abusive.
If people choose to socialise after the event — brilliant — but please remember you are with new people. Act with care, look after yourself, and don’t drive or cycle while under the influence.
If weather affects the event, an alternative indoor plan will be announced. If that is also not possible, the event will be cancelled via the WhatsApp community.
Companies or charities may show support for this meet-up, but unless directly stated, they are not affiliated with it and take no responsibility for its running or outcome.
General housekeeping: You are responsible for your own safety, wellbeing and belongings. As this is a public initiative, the event cannot accept liability for accidents, injury or loss. Participation is entirely at your own risk. For peace of mind, please let someone you trust know where you are going and how you’ll be travelling.
The final meeting time and location will be confirmed closer to the date, and will be somewhere public and visible.
Feel free to take photos or videos, but please ask before capturing anyone who might appear in your content.
If you lose the group, feel free to send a message in the community chat and we’ll share our next stopping point so you can easily rejoin.
Because this initiative cannot provide supervision or safeguarding, please do not bring minors.
As this meet-up takes place in public areas, we cannot guarantee a fully step-free or accessible route. That said, we will do our best to be considerate. If you have access needs or suggestions that could help us plan with more inclusivity, we would love to hear from you.
